The PJ Schafer Memorial Heart Research Grant

John Hopkins Medical Heart Institute The proceeds of the PJ Schafer Memorial Golf Tournament support research at The Johns Hopkins Heart Institute and The Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease to fund research into the prevention of sudden cardiac death and premature heart disease. Following the tournament each year a committee of Johns Hopkins cardiologists selects a talented young cardiologist who has recently begun his or her career in one of these areas of cardiovascular research. The 2009 recipients of the PJ Schafer Memorial Research Grant are Drs. Richard George and Saman Nazarian. Both of these doctors are working to develop protocols to identify and treat subjects at risk for heart disease and sudden cardiac death using advanced imaging techniques, including CT and MRI.

The Johns Hopkins Heart Institute wants to thanks everyone for their generous support of The PJ Schafer Memorial Heart Research Grant.
